Charles Leclerc reveals his relationship with Carlos Sainz after war of words at Spanish GP
Charles Leclerc gave an update on his relationship with Carlos Sainz after a heated incident at the Spanish GP.

During the Spanish GP, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz engaged in wheel-to-wheel racing. Sainz, racing aggressively in his home race, overtook Leclerc, which ended up damaging the Monegasque’s front wing. After the race, they exchanged words with each other regarding the incident.
After the Spanish GP Charles Leclerc was asked if the incident caused any issues in his relationship with Carlos Sainz. Leclerc claimed, Sainz did not follow the agreement which they planned . The 26-year-old explained, after the race the two travelled back together on the same plane. They had a chance to talk and sort things out. Leclerc mentioned that from the outside, these incidents can seem like a big deal, but between them it’s not, they’ve known each other for many years now. Despite any disagreements on track they have a good understanding and respect for each other.
We came back on the same plane Sunday night and it was a matter of seeing each other, it’s all good. I think the issue always seems huge from outside. But then between us, we know each other so well since so many years that we know that after the race there’s tension.Charles Leclerc said, as reported by motorsportweek.com

Leclerc explained, that during the heat of the moment they both were disappointed by each other. However, they talked things through afterwards and everything turned out well. The Monegasque said, he wasn’t worried at all about their relationship moving forward. This is very common in F1 to have tension between teammates, but they must know how to resolve them and move on together. He explained, his friendship and relationship with Sainz is strong and they handled the situation calmly after the race.

Charles Leclerc admits some moments can be ‘tricky’ between teammates
Leclerc reflected on the situation noting that in the past, similar incidents has occurred due to what happened in previous races. He acknowledged that there have been tricky moments between teammates, especially when they compete as closely. The 26-year-old said that it was important for drivers to handle such kind of situation afterwards face to face.
But in the past, we also had those moments where it’s tricky in between teammates, especially when we are so close to each other that this moment happens and it’s all about how you deal with it afterwards, face to face.Charles Leclerc stated

Charles Leclerc highlighted he and Carlos Sainz has always managed this situation well. They both engage in discussions to calmly and respectfully resolve these issues. The Monegasque said, such moments are natural part of racing and emotions can come in between. Despite this, both driver’s must communicate with each other and sort the things out.
I think this has always been done very, very well between Carlos and myself. So I have no worries about going forward, and I honestly haven’t seen any change since that is the case.Charles Leclerc added
Certainly, Leclerc believed that heating up situations could occur during races, which was very normal as everyone on the grid wanted to win. However, he emphasized the importance of resolving these heated moments afterward to avoid damaging professional relationships. Fans are eager to see Leclerc and Sainz back in action as there isn’t much time left before the Spanish leaves the Scuderia.
