Lewis Hamilton suffered from a dismal outing in his debut year with Ferrari. The Briton even failed to outscore his teammate Charles Leclerc. To make matters worse, Hamilton couldn’t even achieve a podium finish, thus marking 2025 as the worst season in his long career in F1.
Now, despite his struggles this year, Leclerc has noted that he does not have any advice for the 40-year-old leading to the new regulations in 2026. Charles Leclerc had recently revealed that he was motivated and ready to start scoring much better results with Ferrari in the new regulations.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton‘s plans were somewhat different as he aimed to unplug from the matrix and enjoy the off-season fully. Leclerc even explained that he believed in Hamilton to turn his career at Ferrari around. However, the Monegasque believes that none of his words could truly help the seven-time champion rediscover himself at Maranello.
Speaking about Lewis Hamilton’s struggle, Charles Leclerc noted that it was challenging for him to spend time helping the former regain his pace and start performing better on the grid. Moreover, Leclerc did not forget the fact that Hamilton had achieved so much in his career that none of his advice would really matter anyway.
Further, Charles Leclerc noted that joining a new time and getting accustomed to everything there was certainly a long process. Though Ferrari’s golden boy accepted that he did not even remember what it was like joining a new team, as he had been under the Italian squad’s wing for over eight years now. As such, Leclerc was aware of how everything worked at the Scuderia, while Lewis Hamilton was still facing new challenges with the Italian squad.
It’s obviously difficult for me to then also spend time [helping Hamilton]. And also Lewis has achieved a lot more than I ever did. I don’t really have any advice to give him. It’s for sure a long process whenever you join a new team. I mean, I don’t even remember what it’s like to be joining a new team. It’s been eight [sic] years that I’m at Ferrari. So I know how it works. And obviously everything feels very natural. But for Lewis, it’s still kind of new even after a year.

Charles Leclerc reveals Ferrari’s performance ‘just not good enough’
Charles Leclerc has been racing for Ferrari for over six years but still has yet to contend for his maiden driver’s title. Though he came close to the title many times, he still couldn’t hold onto it or lead it till the end. As such, speaking on his own struggles in the 2025 season, Leclerc made a brutal acceptance of the team’s shortcomings. The Monegasque simply noted that Maranello’s performance with the SF-25 challenger was simply not good enough.

Still, Charles Leclerc reckoned that the team did a good enough job of maximizing performance throughout the year. The Monegasque believed that the poor car performance was the biggest problem for the team and the reason behind their dismal slump. However, Leclerc pointed out that even their closest rival, Mercedes, suffered from such issues, and thus it was just a little shock.
I felt like we did a good job maximising our car throughout the year like that. But the performance of the car is just not good enough, So that’s what we are lacking. I think Mercedes, the closest team to us this year, had very big ups and bigger downs as well.
Charles Leclerc noted.
Certainly, Ferrari would be glad that they can finally put the 2025 season behind them. The team couldn’t really dominate any of the years in the ground-effect era despite their consistent efforts. Now, Maranello will hope for a miraculous turnaround in their results in the new regulations from 2026. For now, Charles Leclerc will enjoy the off-time in the winter break.
