Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has backed Sergio Perez to start performing at his best in Formula 1. The Milton-Keynes outfit declared on Monday that Perez will stay with the team even after the ongoing summer break.
Sergio Perez has been in horrendous form this season, scoring just 20 points in the last seven races. The Mexican’s position with Red Bull has thereafter been subjected to prolonged scrutiny due to his underperformance.
However, despite continuous shortfalls, Christian Horner has vested his faith in the 34-year-old’s abilities to perform on the race track. Horner has known Perez since his early days in Formula 2.

The Mexican signed a contract extension with the Milton-Keynes outfit this season, keeping him with the team until 2026. But the contract is bound by strict performance clauses, to which Perez must conform in order to truly cement his future.
James Vowles ‘surprised’ with Red Bull overlooking Carlos Sainz
Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz is set to join Williams Racing on a multi-year deal in 2025. Williams team principal James Vowles therefore spoke on the Spaniard’s abilities while sharing some thoughts on the massive move.
If Red Bull have decided to do this, then again, there’s reasons behind it I won’t be aware of. They’re multiple world champions. They don’t make decisions lightly. But I was surprised.James Vowles via CRASH
James Vowles claimed that he was surprised by Red Bull’s decision not to pursue Carlos Sainz, who had raced for them previously in his career. Vowles then backed Sainz as one of the best drivers on the grid prior to signing him the previous week.
The 29-year-old will now be expected to prove his worth with Williams next year, having already excelled at Ferrari and McLaren. As for the Grove-based team, they will be delighted to have the Spaniard leading their lineup in the near future. He will partner-up with the versatile Alex Albon from 2025 onwards.
