Max Verstappen has raced for Red Bull Racing since 2016. Since then, rumors have often emerged about a rival team being interested in the Dutch driver, the latest one being Aston Martin’s alleged $1.2 billion offer. However, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has refuted these claims.

Aston Martin was rumored to have offered Verstappen a staggering $1.2 billion for 2026. Though, the Silverstone-based squad denied these reports. With even the Dutch driver shutting them down at F1 75. Although, Helmut Marko recently acknowledged that Max Verstappen could leave Red Bull due to a performance clause in his contract.

Christian Horner indirectly blamed the media for spreading the billion dollar deal rumors. He claimed that the media simply wanted to fill its columns during the winter break. The Briton highlighted that even a rumor about over a billion dollars was too much, since it was an eye watering amount even for Max Verstappen.

Look, I know you guys have all got columns to fill over a winter period. But for a billion dollars? It would be an eye-wateringly large amount of money.

Christian Horner insists Red Bull in good financial position

Horner insisted that he could not comment on the finances of rival teams, or whether Aston Martin could indeed pay Verstappen a billion dollars. However, he made it clear that Red Bull was in a strong financial position, particularly when compared to other teams. Recently, Christian Horner had applauded his team for never needing external investments.

I can’t comment on other teams’ finances, but Red Bull are relatively well-positioned, I would think, compared to others within the pit lane.

Christian Horner noted

It seems that even Horner was surprised to hear rumors of a $1.2 billion deal for Max Verstappen. Such a massive amount is unheard of in Formula 1. Though, with the recent commercial boom in the sport, fans should not be surprised if such an offer does become real in the coming years. For now, Verstappen is likely going to stay at Milton Keynes.
