Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner has claimed that Visa Cash App RB driver, Daniel Ricciardo will have to work his socks off to retain his seat for the coming season. Ricciardo currently faces major scrutiny after a series of lackluster performances for RB, which has put him in jeopardy in terms of a seat on the grid for 2025.

Daniel Ricciardo has scored only nine points for RB and has been massively outpaced by his teammate Yuki Tsunoda, who has been on a flyer for the Red Bull sister team this season. Tsunoda has scored 19 points as compared to Ricciardo’s nine, and has thus, recently earned a contract extension with the team for 2025.

Christian Horner hence spoke on the current saga surrounding Ricciardo and has called for the 34-year-old driver to step up to his game if he wishes to retain his seat for the coming season. The eight-time Grand Prix winner raced for Red Bull during one of his most successful stints in F1 under Horner.

Earlier this season, rumors and talks from numerous sources erupted saying Daniel Ricciardo’s future with RB is stable despite his dip in form. But, with the current change of bias, the Australian driver will have to work hard to put in a consistent run of performances to re-establish his worth to the grid.

Yuki Tsunoda takes the blame after Canadian GP misery

Yuki Tsunoda has shown an apologetic demeanor towards RB after the Japanese driver locked up unusually during the closing stages of the race in Montreal. This accidental lockup cost Tsunoda a place in the points and he finished P14 at the end of the Canadian GP.

The 24-year-old driver has been in encouraging form for RB this season, scoring 19 points in nine races. Tsunoda spun on lap 67 and had a near miss with Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg. Had the German driver not shown quick reflexes the two could have got into a horrible crash.

Tsunoda will now look to make a comeback into the points-scoring positions during the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix. RB will try to fix their problems from the race in Montreal and will hope for a more fruitful outing in Barcelona.
