Lewis Hamilton stunned the sporting world by deciding to move to Scuderia Ferrari. The British driver joins the Italian team on the back of an underwhelming campaign in 2024. However, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner reckons that the seven-time world champion can get back to winning ways with the Prancing Horse.

The British driver has failed to meet expectations in the ground-effect era. Lewis Hamilton even suffered to make gains in Qualifying throughout the course of the 2024 season. So much so, that he even considered quitting mid-way through his final season with Mercedes.

Horner claimed that the switch to Ferrari could turn into another resurgence for Lewis Hamilton. The 51-year-old highlighted that the British driver is an emotional guy who wants to achieve success with his new team. However, Christian Horner pointed out that a lot will depend on the way this partnership kicks off at the start of the season.

He may well have another resurgence in him. He’s an emotional guy. I think it really depends on how things kick off for him at Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton a ‘class’ competitor in F1

The Red Bull team boss labeled Hamilton as a ‘class competitor’ on the grid. He further asserted that the Briton still has the hunger and motivation to perform despite being 40 years old. Horner reiterated that the new environment can help Lewis Hamilton thrive once again.

He’s still a class competitor. Even though he’s getting older in age, it depends on if that hunger and motivation is going to be rejuvenated by a new challenge and new surroundings in Ferrari.

Christian Horner noted

Certainly, Hamilton’s switch to the Scuderia is the biggest talking point of the 2025 season. The Tifosi can’t wait to see the Briton make his debut in red soon. However, the high expectations on this partnership might make things difficult if the two parties have a slow start to the year. As such, Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari must remain realistic about their targets for 2025.
