Max Verstappen’s victory at the Brazilian GP was no less than a fairytale. The Dutchman had a tough Friday and Saturday, leaving no hopes for him to even be on the podium.

With an engine change and a qualifying disaster, he started the race from P17. However, the race turned out to be a roller coaster, with the Red Bull driver winning his eighth Grand Prix of the season in style.

It was a masterclass today from Max. He was in a league of his own, I think as a team we got all the calls right. The car had great pace, so outstanding drive, to come from 17th this morning. Everything had gone against us, but he turned it round and after a great start, six cars on the first lap. The whole team have really kept their heads and worked incredibly hard.

Christian Horner told SkySportsF1

Verstappen’s climb through the grid was nothing short of incredible. He passed six cars on the first lap and capitalized on opportunities presented by other drivers’ mistakes.

The Austrian team even lost speed and found it hard to compete with teams like Williams. However, Christian Horner highlighted the team’s determination behind the scenes as a key factor in overcoming this slump.

We fought back into ourselves back into a winning position and that’s team effort that goes on behind the scenes back in Milton Keynes, but nobody ever gives up, we’ve demonstrated that today.

Christian Horner said

The Brazilian GP win helps Max Verstappen very much in the Drivers’ Championship. He now has 393 points to his name, with McLaren’s Lando Norris 62 points behind him.
