The Ex-Red Bull aerodynamicist Adrian Newey has signed with Aston Martin after interest from massive powerhouses like Ferrari. Though Red Bull lost its technical head to a rival, team supremo Christian Horner revealed how the Silverstone-based outfit’s offer was not matchable for the Austrian giant due to the massive perks offered by the Lawrence Stroll-led team.

The breakup between Red Bull and Adrian Newey sparked interest in Aston Martin‘s camp. However, to get Newey to join their team, the design wizard had to be offered a hugely rewarding cheque. He received this by becoming one of the highest-paid members in the paddock with the added benefit of becoming a stakeholder in Aston Martin’s F1 project.

Subsequently, Christian Horner explained how the offer put on the table by the English team was simply not matchable by Red Bull in the current era of cost cap regulations. This could also explain why some of the senior staff personnel at Milton Keynes recently announced their departure from the team.

The deal he did with Aston Martin, with shares and everything, is something that was simply not on the table here. I can understand that – Adrian wants another chance in Formula 1 and as a shareholder and partner in a team I certainly don’t blame him for that.

Despite the internal turmoil, the reigning champions would have to keep fighting till the last round to at least secure the runners-up spot in the constructors’ championship. The tussle on the drivers’ side solely relies on Max Verstappen and his ability to churn out every last bit of performance from the incredibly inconsistent RB20.

Max Verstappen still has faith in Red Bull despite mass exodus

With Red Bull having lost some big names, experts reckon that the team is in a state of silence before the storm, and could possibly explode amidst the ever-increasing pressure from rivals. Despite this, the Dutchman has stayed loyal to the team and has asserted his faith in Red Bull.

Verstappen explained how he has already built a good relationship with the new technical director. Moreover, he asserted the importance of having a group of people working towards one goal and affirmed that the Austrian giant has all members required to fulfill their goals in F1.

It’s very good, Pierre and I talk a lot. When I’m in the factory, I always have a meeting with him. He’s very motivated and I enjoy being involved. Things are working quite well, it’s just that the results aren’t what we want right now. It’s up to us to turn that around as a team. At the end of the day it’s not just two or three people who make the difference. It’s about the collective.

Despite Verstappen’s optimism, the Milton-Keynes-based squad has lost the bragging rights for having the fastest car. On the contrary, it’s more often than not the third fastest car on merit. The remaining six races of the 2024 season hold tremendous importance for Verstappen and Co. for varied reasons.
