Red Bull’s Max Verstappen suffered from a disappointing outing in the Qatar Sprint race. The Dutchman barely managed a points finish after dwindling down to P8. He came into the qualifying session with very less hopes of an impressive performance. However, Verstappen shocked the paddock after amassing a pole position for the Qatar GP.
Max Verstappen scored the much-awaited pole position in Qatar after his last P1 dating back to the Austrian GP, five months ago. The entire crew was overjoyed following the impressive qualifying result. Moreover, Sergio Perez also secured a top-10 start for the Qatar GP as the team looks ahead at potentially scoring double points after a long time.
Christian Horner was extremely satisfied with Verstappen’s pole in Qatar. The Red Bull boss labeled the results a ‘great turnaround’ in performance. Apart from this, the 50-year-old credited the crew members and engineers at the factory in Milton Keynes for the improvement in performance.
A great turnaround. The engineer and the team back at Milton Keynes have done a great job.
Christian Horner said during the post-session interview

Red Bull threw the ‘kitchen sink’ at RB20 in hopes of improving performance
Red Bull tried almost everything in order to improve performance in the struggling RB20 chassis. Christian Horner joked that the team threw the ‘kitchen sink’ at the chassis and changed everything possible in the car. The Red Bull boss recalled how Max Verstappen was struggling to score good lap times through turns 1, 2, and the last corner and how he achieved a great turnaround.
We threw the kitchen sink at it, and changed everything you can, and it’s difficult to know if it would work. Yesterday, we were lacking in turn 1, 2 and the last corner, and he was pretty much setting purple sectors.
