McLaren was back in contention for the Formula 1 world title for the first time in over a decade. Despite Lando Norris‘ failed bid against Max Verstappen, the British team managed to clinch the Constructors’ title. Now, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has expressed his respect towards the Woking-based squad.

Red Bull failed to match the British team in the latter half of the 2024 season. This allowed McLaren to win its first teams’ title since 1998 after it defeated second-placed Ferrari at the Abu Dhabi GP. Even though, the Woking-based squad did not have a fast car at the start of the year.

Christian Horner confessed that he had to salute McLaren’s incredible performance this season. The Red Bull boss insisted that Zak Brown‘s squad did a great job. Horner pointed out that the British team did not only have a good car, but two good drivers in the form of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri as well, during an awesome campaign.

I mean, you’ve got to salute what McLaren have done this year. They’ve done a very, very good job. They’ve had a good car, they’ve had two great drivers, and they’ve had an awesome year.

Christian Horner eagerly waiting to see Zak Brown’s new tattoo

McLaren CEO Zak Brown is known for his tattoos in the paddock. The American first got a tattoo to commemorate Daniel Ricciardo’s victory at the 2021 Italian GP, the first win for McLaren under his leadership. Brown even got a tattoo for Norris’ first F1 race win. Now, Christian Horner has admitted that he is excited to see what new tattoo he gets for the Constructors’ title victory.

I’m looking forward to seeing what tattoo Zak [Brown] is going to emblazon on himself for a constructors’ world championship.

Christian Horner stated

Certainly, Zak Brown and McLaren are thrilled to finally put an end to their title drought in Formula 1. The British team now needs to carry on this momentum to the upcoming season. As Red Bull will only come back stronger in 2025.
