Red Bull team principal, Christian Horner has called out Sergio Perez after a series of disappointing performances by the Mexican this season. Perez recently signed a contract extension with Red Bull but has not been up to the team’s standards since then.
Sergio Perez joined Red Bull in 2021 and has been a promising driver for the Milton-Keynes outfit. However, since the start of last season, he seems to have lost his prowess and has been an underperformer for the team on various occasions, despite having a powerful car throughout.

Christian Horner spoke on the situation, saying that the 34-year-old has to give his best in the upcoming races in order to justify his chances with the team. Perez’s inconsistency has landed a major scruff on the constructors’ championship chances of Red Bull, having scored only four points in the last three races with consecutive DNFs in the previous two.
The margins are fine – he knows what’s at stake, we need him performing at the top of his game. The constructors’, we have three teams that are nipping at our heels, and you have to be firing on all cylinders.Christian Horner via F1
Sergio Perez showed good form during the first five races of the season, having amassed four podiums for the team. He will now look to bounce back in Barcelona as a crucial challenge awaits the six-time race winner.
Red Bull reportedly on the right track to eradicate issues with RB20
Red Bull is reportedly working in the right direction to eradicate the issue of kerb riding and bumps within the RB20. The Austrian outfit has been on the receiving end of problems regarding the performance of their car on kerbs and bumps for a long time now.

We responded to it by coming to Canada with a softer base setup, but it wasn't enough. Although I do think we are on the right track to make quick progress on the front suspension.Helmut Marko via RacingNews365
Red Bull has won six out of nine races this year but are far from their superior, dominant best of 2023. They face tough competition from the likes of Ferrari and McLaren who have improved massively in recent races.
The team experimented with a softer base setup in Canada in hopes of coping with their issues but despite clenching the win, the outfit did not find suitable results as compared to their expectations. They will now look to experiment with a different approach on the front suspension of the RB20 in hopes of achieving a better performance in the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix.
