The Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has shared his thoughts ahead of next week’s Las Vegas GP. The inaugural 2023 event turned out to be a huge hit and Horner is expecting much of the same this year as well.

Last year, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Sergio Perez were locked in a three-way fight for the Grand Prix win. However, at the end of all the back-and-forth, it was Verstappen who ultimately came out trumps in a chaotic event.

One of the best races of the season last year because of the long straights and the slow corners at the end of them. There were huge overtaking opportunities. It was also very cold, and it was difficult to warm up the tyres. It could just be another thriller. And I certainly don’t expect it to disappoint this year.

Looking at the reaction of the Red Bull boss, he has emphasized the could conditions in Las Vegas. Several drivers faced issues last year with the heating of their tyres and the same could happen again. Moreover, because of the long straights, it was quite challenging to judge the breaking points as well.

Las Vegas GP could pose real problems to Red Bull

While Christian Horner is extremely upbeat about the prospect of racing in Las Vegas, the event could pose serious challenges to his team. Other than the tyre heating issue, the RB20 is currently not the fastest car in F1.

The Woking-based McLaren has the challenger that has proved lethal at pretty much all kinds of circuits. This is one of the main reasons why Red Bull has fallen down to third in the fiercely contested 2024 constructors’ championship.

Other than this, Horner and Co. also have the issues of Sergio Perez’s horrendous form. The Mexican driver has not been able to keep up with his teammate and this could again be the case during next week’s race weekend.

Moreover, the lights of Ferrari are delivering results continuously with both its drivers and this could lead to Red Bull losing further ground to them in the standings. As far as McLaren goes, the only threat to them in the championship will come from the Maranello outfit. Red Bull has several issues at the moment and at the end of the season, Perez could certainly be axed given how poor he has been this year.
