Amidst the preparations for the move, Ex-F1 world champion Damon Hill put forth his trust in Hamilton’s capabilities to perform well at Maranello.

Damon Hill took to Instagram and responded to Lewis Hamilton‘s excitement about racing with Ferrari in the coming season. The Briton had claimed that he had much to reflect on before debuting with the Italian constructor. The testing sessions for Hamilton’s SF-25 chassis are expected to remain ‘elastic’ as the temperature conditions in and around Fiorano won’t be ideal. Regardless, Ferrari’s upturn in performance in the 2024 season is a highly motivating factor for the 39-year-old. The seven-time world champion has the support of the majority of the people present on the grid ahead of his debut.

Lewis Hamilton’s stint with Mercedes will remain ‘one of the greatest success stories’

Lewis Hamilton achieved some highly impressive results with Mercedes over the 12 years of racing together. Damon Hill berated the people downplaying Hamilton’s capabilities due to the latter being 39 years old.

Hill stated that he didn’t believe these comments and awaited the ‘magic’ the veteran will achieve with Ferrari. However, even if the Briton’s best days were in the past, the stint with Mercedes would go down in history as one of the greatest success stories in Formula 1.

Some are suggesting that, already at 39, his best days are behind him. I don’t believe that to be true. I really look forward to seeing what magic might happen at Ferrari. But if they really are behind him, then the Lewis Hamilton-Mercedes era will surely stand the test of time as one of the greatest success stories in the history of our sport.

Damon Hill told Mirror.co.uk

The 2025 season would be one of the most interesting seasons ever due to the massive personnel changes in multiple teams. At Ferrari, Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will form a highly formidable pair and attempt to maximize points over the race weekend. The Italian constructor will still have to maintain consistency in strategies and chassis development over the season.
