Daniel Ricciardo, the eight-time Grand Prix winner, has been on a rollercoaster ride during the ongoing Miami Grand Prix weekend. He managed a brilliant fourth-place finish in the Sprint race but during qualifying, he shockingly made an exit only after the Q1 session.
At the end of it all, Daniel Ricciardo was left disappointed and a bit confused with how the qualifying session panned out for him. Ricciardo’s final Q1 push lap was only good enough for a time of 1.28.617 which landed him at P18 at the end of the event.
His teammate, Yuki Tsunoda was surprisingly able to take his VCARB 01 into Q3.
I'm on the second row today and the last row tomorrow. I'm angry about it but I know it's not something we fucked up. It was just an unfortunate session.Daniel Ricciardo said in his post quali interview
The 34-year-old has been on the back foot in comparison to his teammate since the start of the 2024 season. But during the ongoing weekend, Ricciardo has been on par and at times, has even outperformed the Japanese driver.
Yuki Tsunoda not 100 percent pleased with his final Q3 lap
While Daniel Ricciardo has made it known he didn’t really do anything wrong during the Miami GP qualifying session, Yuki Tsunoda felt that on his end, he could have done a better job despite making it into Q3.
The Japanese driver did not have the cleanest lap on his final push and thus, was only able to manage a P10 starting position.
I’m happy I can start the race in the top 10, and a better position than in the Sprint. Qualifying wasn’t the best for me personally, but we still got to Q3. I never felt very proud of my lap, I didn’t make any big mistakes but I could’ve done better overall.Yuki Tsunoda said in his post quali interview

So far during the ongoing Miami weekend, the 20 drivers have had a hard time keeping their cars on the track. The dusty nature of the street circuit has made things quite tricky and this could again play a role during the upcoming 57-lap race! Tsunoda has a great chance of scoring points but from Ricciardo’s starting position, he could face a tough time in trying to get into the top 10.
