Daniel Ricciardo‘s woeful 2024 season performances have caused rumors of him being ousted from RB mid-season. The Australian had great hopes of continuing in the sport and potentially moving up to Red Bull. However, Ricciardo’s performance meant that he could no longer continue with RB and to be replaced by Liam Lawson following the Singapore GP.

No official confirmations have been made regarding Daniel Ricciardo‘s exit from RB and Formula 1 overall. However, the Singapore GP witnessed an extremely emotional end for Ricciardo with almost everyone preparing for the Aussie to leave. Amidst this, the 35-year-old was questioned if he aimed to return to Red Bull as a reserve driver.

Daniel Ricciardo bluntly answered that he wasn’t going to aim for this move back to Red Bull. Ricciardo reckoned that the previous year his goal was to move up the chain and get a seat at Milton Keynes. Anyhow, there was no point going back to the same goal and potentially ‘restarting’ his own career.

No. Obviously, last year it made a lot of sense to keep one foot in the door and obviously the big picture was to try and get back at Red Bull. I think if I was to do that again, there’s not really [much point]. I’m not going to restart my career.

Daniel Ricciardo downplayed woeful performances to be an ‘age thing’

Daniel Ricciardo is currently 35 years old and has been racing in Formula 1 since 2011. Hence, Ricciardo reckoned that his woeful performances were due to him being his current age. The Aussie recalled that racing came easier to him ten years back when he was just 25.

I’m also 35 and I still showed the pace that I’ve had over the years, but it’s obviously been evident that it’s been harder for me to show it every weekend. And maybe that is a little bit of an age thing. I think it definitely came easier for me when I was 25 as opposed to 35.

The entire Formula 1 paddock teared up watching Ricciardo potentially exit the cockpit in his last race in the sport. RB is yet to break the news to the world of the Aussie being replaced as people continue to question this decision. Hence, the team must mend their ways and bid the Honey Badger a proper farewell.
