Max Verstappen was going through a rough period in F1 over the last few weeks. The Dutch driver had failed to win a Grand Prix since June. However, the three-time world champion was back on top after an amazing drive at the Brazilian GP. Now, former F1 driver David Coulthard has highlighted that the 27-year-old had showed his capabilities yet again.
Verstappen had a few on-track incidents with title contender Lando Norris in recent weeks. Critics slammed the Dutchman’s driving over these clashes. However, Max Verstappen refused to change his way of racing despite the two-time penalties at the Mexican GP.
Coulthard reckoned that the Red Bull driver’s victory at Interlagos would calm the growing anger against him. Moreover, DC highlighted that Max Verstappen had showed yet again that he is his ‘own man’ who speaks his mind. As such, the Dutch driver does not succumb to anyone else’s tunes.
David Coulthard praises Max Verstappen’s ‘unbelievable’ Brazilian GP win
Verstappen won the Brazilian GP from P17 on the grid in treacherous wet conditions. David Coulthard claimed that performances like these were the reason he fell in love with Formula 1 in the first place. The 53-year-old reckoned that he loves to see drivers like Verstappen push themselves to the limit and pull off unbelievable drives.
Max Verstappen’s drive at Interlagos was perhaps the best performance of 2024. The reigning world champion now shifts focus to the Las Vegas GP, where he could be crowned a four-time champion. However, it remains to be seen if the Dutchman can fulfill this massive accomplishment in ‘Sin City.’
