Adrian Newey will leave Red Bull in early 2025. Newey has served Red Bull for almost two decades, joining the team in 2005. Hence, the Englishman has spent a large part of his F1 career at Milton Keynes. As a result, Ex-F1 team owner Eddie Jordan reckons that the 65-year-old might take a break in between switching teams due to multiple reasons.
Adrian Newey is a highly capable individual who led Red Bull to multiple world titles, including during the ground-effect era. Hence, the Briton’s exit from the team might cost heavity to Milton Keynes. Since Newey was with Red Bull for the past 20 years, Eddie Jordan believes that the Englishman would take some ‘time out’ and cruise for a while. Additionally, Jordan reflected on the pressures of working as an engineer at Milton Keynes.
Remember that he [Adrian Newey] has been in Red Bull under constant pressure, so if he takes a time out and just cruises for a while, then everyone would understand that that's probably more likely to see.Eddie Jordan told on the Formula For Success podcast (H&T: @F1ForSuccess/X).
Apart from this, Jordan reckoned that multiple things had changed since Newey first worked for the Austrian constructor. The Irishman claimed that the Briton got older since his beginning in the team. Additionally, the 76-year-old mentioned that the 65-year-old had the chance to work with great teams and drivers and got great personnel there. Hence, Adrian Newey might look for a change of life soon in terms of work.
Things have slightly changed, He's got a bit older and the various things. This is a great team, he's had great drivers, he's got great personnel there. He probably should and would look to the future about a change of life.Eddie Jordan noted.
F1 pundit delved into the real reason behind Adrian Newey’s exit Red Bull exit
Adrian Newey’s departure from the team was due to multiple reasons. The growing tensions between Christian Horner and Helmut Marko due to Dietrich Mateschitz‘s death were present. Additionally, the entire Horner investigation saga had led to a soured relationship between Horner and Newey. Craig Slater reckoned that a major figure was leaving the team. Slater also labeled the reasons for the exit to be this very power struggle between the top roles.
It's a major figure leaving the team. One of the reasons Newey is leaving is because of this wider power struggle at Red Bull between the Thai majority ownership and the Austrian 49 per cent owners.Craig Slater said, as reported by skysports.com.
Slater mentioned that the power struggle was still alive and led to the exit of such a highly capable individual. This also increased the distance between Horner and Newey over the past year. Hence, the team principal lost a key ally in Adrian Newey and would face issues subsequently.
Yes, there has been a distance between Horner and Newey which has grown over the past year. I think it's unfair to call it a falling out. This is perhaps Horner losing a key ally.Craig Slater noted.
Adrian Newey will take a look over his options and then decide if he wants to continue serving a team in the pinnacle of motorsport. Newey will work on the RB17 Hypercar and then quit all duties in Red Bull. Hence, the coming few weeks will be highly interesting for the 65-year-old to see how it all pans out.
