Max Verstappen had started the 2024 season off in a similar fashion to his previous season. However, Red Bull’s struggling pace caught the 26-year-old off guard as he lost out on multiple races so far. Regardless, this didn’t stop the Dutchman from showcasing some dominant performances. The Emilia Romagna GP was one such race where Verstappen showcased a great performance just after winning the 24 hours of the Nurburgring virtual race.

Max Verstappen made history by winning two races on the same day, the 24 hours of Nurburgring and the Emilia Romagna GP. Hence, the Dutchman received a lot of praise for this impressive feat. However, Eddie Jordan reckoned that if were in Christian Horner‘s shoes, he wouldn’t have allowed this case despite the 26-year-old not asking for permission. Jordan would’ve put his foot down and said that racing in Imola was more important for Verstappen.

As team boss, I would no longer have agreed to that, If I had been Christian Horner I would have said: 'I'm sorry Max, you're here in Imola.
Eddie Jordan said, as reported by formule1.nl.

Additionally, Jordan mentioned that Verstappen was paid by Red Bull to represent the sponsors and the team. As a result, partaking in such virtual races would’ve caused the 26-year-old to lose focus on the more important matter. Hence, the three-time world champion didn’t need any distractions from the main race in Imola.

You are paid by Red Bull to represent the sponsors, the team and everyone associated with our team. I think it's very difficult to have total concentration. I know for myself that I didn't have that. Then you don't want any distractions.
Eddie Jordan added.

Eddie Jordan claims he never ‘doubted’ Max Verstappen to win the Emilia Romagna GP

Max Verstappen immediately returned after winning the virtual race and shifted his focus to the race in Imola. Verstappen is often seen partaking in virtual racing alongside his team Redline. Hence, it was not shocking to witness the Dutchman also focus on the virtual race. However, winning both the races in itself was a great achievement that any ordinary F1 driver couldn’t achieve.

Upon this, Jordan mentioned that he never doubted the reigning world champion to win the race. Although the virtual race might’ve caused the Dutchman to lose focus, Verstappen’s dominance was never in question. Subsequently, the Irishmen claimed that the 26-year-old was on a different level and showcased total focus at the Emilia Romagna GP.

I see that Max has the total focus as well. And he is on another level. I never doubted that he was going to win that race in Imola.
Eddie Jordan concluded.

Max Verstappen has faced multiple hitches along the way in the 2024 season. Regardless, the Dutchman has maintained the lead since the season’s beginning. Additionally, Verstappen is constantly closing the window on the rival teams by maintaining a dominant performance.
