Former Jordan F1 team owner Eddie Jordan has given his verdict on Red Bull’s recent struggles in the championship. Jordan claims that the Milton Keynes outfit’s inability to produce a competitive challenger is greatly affecting Max Verstappen.
The three-time world champion Max Verstappen started the 2024 season on a strong note, securing seven wins out of the first 10 races. Since then, the 26-year-old has looked vulnerable and a bit powerless in his efforts against the likes of McLaren and Mercedes.
Eddie Jordan believes Verstappen is the best driver currently in Formula 1. Keeping this in view, Jordan sympathized with the Dutchman, who is now finishing fourth, fifth, or sixth in pretty much every race.
We were all slagging off Perez, but maybe that's the speed of the car. What Max is doing is what Max is able to do. Without any doubt, he is the best driver in Formula 1 at the moment. Therefore to finish fifth, fourth and sixth or whatever... Jesus, it must be ki***ng him at the moment.Eddie Jordan via GPblog
The Milton-Keynes-based team is confident of making suitable changes to the RB20 in order to salvage their opportunities. However, a concrete procedure to eliminate the persistent issues still remains a question for them to answer.
Christian Horner reveals plans to resolve Max Verstappen’s woes
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has vested complete faith in his team to resolve issues within the RB20. The Milton-Keynes-based outfit has been greatly troubled on tracks that feature significant kerbs and bumps since the 2023 season.
The most important thing is understanding the issue, and I think there are certain fixes that potentially can be introduced, perhaps not the resolve the whole issue but address some of it. I think we have a two-week period before Baku and Singapore and then we have another mini-break where we can work in-between Singapore and Austin, so this time now is crucial.Christian Horner said via Formula1
Christian Horner has emphasized partially fixing issues within the RB20 to make up lost ground in this campaign. Horner has talked of utilizing the ongoing break before Baku and Singapore find a solution for the RB20’s lost pace.
The team’s woes have inadvertently affected Max Verstappen the most, who has failed to triumph in any of the last six races. The 26-year-old, despite his declining run, leads the drivers’ championship by 62 points and thus, will be eyeing a fourth-consecutive title triumph this year.
