Eddie Jordan, the former F1 team owner, has praised McLaren’s superstar duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. Norris and Piastri have been brilliant this season, amassing a combined 295 points in 11 races for the Woking-based unit.
McLaren has been one of the most competent teams this campaign, battling the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari to lead the championship in 2024. The English team has been led by Lando Norris, who has won at Miami and has scored seven podiums in 11 races this season.
Following in on this, Eddie Jordan has deemed Oscar Piastri a future world champion in light of the compelling performances by the Australian in only his second season of F1. Jordan has claimed that the guidance and partnership of Norris have benefited Piastri loads in terms of his performance and experience on the track.
He is learning from McLaren but also from Lando Norris. So if you ask me, I am sure that he will be world champion in a few years. He has everything you need to win the title. He is already gaining so much experience that he can really become one of the very best.Eddie Jordan via Formule1.nl
Jordan has also credited McLaren for their efforts and strategies in the development of Oscar Piastri on and off the track. Piastri narrowly missed out on the podium at Silverstone and will be looking to make a return to the top spots in Budapest and Spa.
Zak Brown claims McLaren will not race nasty despite competition
McLaren CEO, Zak Brown has claimed that the team is ready to go head-to-head against the top teams in search of wins and podiums. Brown has, however, clarified that the Woking-based outfit’s approach will not be unprofessional or unjustified, no matter the stake during the course of the season.
We're prepared to go toe-to-toe. Nasty is not how McLaren goes racing. I think you can go toe-to-toe, but you don't have to be nasty about it.Zak Brown via Motorsport
McLaren and Red Bull have been rivals in a season-long tussle for wins and have had some unfortunate incidents on track amongst each other as well. The two teams collided at a crucial stage of the Austrian Grand Prix, which ruined the chances of either team winning the race.
Since the incident, much discussion and debate have been underway to determine the team at fault but no concrete argument has been presented in favor of the two. Zak Brown has since spoken on behalf of McLaren to refrain from any penalizing means to win battles on the track and has also urged the other teams to be fair.
