Sergio Perez has suffered a massive performance slump mid-way through the 2024 season. Multiple people believed that the 34-year-old would be ousted from the team mid-season. However, Red Bull has declined any such rumors and claimed that the Mexican will continue the season as intended. Ex-F1 team boss, Eddie Jordan has raised concerns about Perez’s recent failure in performances.

Eddie Jordan claimed that with McLaren and Mercedes breathing down the necks of Red Bull, they needed to be careful. Apart from this, Jordan noted that Sergio Perez must be careful, especially after the contract renewal.

With McLaren and Mercedes chopping away at their lead, they need to be really careful. Well done Checo for getting it over the line. But I would urge you: if you don’t take advantage of this support that they’ve given you, I fear for your future contract.

Red Bull provided Sergio Perez with a two-year contract extension despite lackluster performances. Additionally, Christian Horner made it clear that Perez’s future was in his own hands for the coming season. However, Milton Keynes has reassured that they will retain the 34-year-old despite the failing performances.

Eddie Jordan claimed constructors championship victory was ‘important’ for Red Bull

Sergio Perez’s degrading performance has made the team lose ground to the rival teams quickly. Hence, the 34-year-old must pick the pace up and score great points over the weekend alongside Max Verstappen. Eddie Jordan claimed that fending off the rivals for the constructors championship and winning it was most important for Red Bull for now.

What’s important to Red Bull, more than anything, is to win the constructors.

Red Bull will have to continue to implement multiple upgrades throughout the remaining races. McLaren has surpassed the Austrian constructor and has become the most dominant chassis on the grid. Hence, the remainder of the season will witness how Red Bull fares against the stern competition against them.
