Alpine seems to be in shambles amidst the disappointing start to the 2024 season. The French constructor has amassed only four points from the nine total races so far. Additionally, Esteban Ocon is already laid off from his seat for the upcoming season. The Canadian GP was however an exception as the two drivers finished in P9 and P10, but the results didn’t come without a tough decision towards the end.

Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly had a mediocre qualifying session and started the race from P18 and P15 respectively. However, the two French drivers had a great drive in the action-packed race around Montreal. Both drivers moved up the pecking order and held the P9 and P10 positions. However, during the last lap, Ocon was commanded to let Gasly through and finish P9. The 27-year-old then burst out on the team radio saying he was too nice and did what he had to do and was important.

No comment. I am too nice, too nice. I've done what I had to do, which is the most important.
Esteban Ocon said on the team radio.

Additionally, the Frenchman didn’t hesitate to further call out the team on the unnecessary call. Ocon iterated that despite him trying his best, the team didn’t give their best to him. The French constructor might be biased towards Gasly due to the former’s ultimate season at Alpine. Hence, this was the reason for Esteban Ocon’s frustrations adding up.

But you guys didn't do what you had to do. That's it.

Esteban Ocon further laid out sarcastic comments over the command from Alpine

Esteban Ocon’s frustrations were clearly visible from his heartbroken radio towards the end. The Frenchman further commented on his team engineers Stew, Dave, and Josh. Ocon sarcastically pointed out that he was ‘happy’ to be working alongside such engineers.

Happy to be working with you guys - Stew, Dave and Josh.
Esteban Ocon noted.

Apart from this, Ocon didn’t hold back from the sarcastic comments due to the disappointing command. The Frenchman added that he was ‘very happy’ after the command to swap positions. Additionally, the 27-year-old sarcastically thanked the team for supporting him throughout the Canadian GP.

Very happy. Thanks for supporting, thanks for supporting.
Esteban Ocon concluded.

Alpine needs to treat their drivers better despite their contractual situation in the next year. This has happened for the second time that they let the other driver through without any good reason. Hence, the French constructor might need to revisit their strategy department and make some changes there.
