Former British racer David Coulthard has shared his concerns regarding seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari in 2025. Hamilton signed a multi-year deal with the Maranello-based team after spending 12 years with Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton is set to partner with the Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc at Ferrari next season. The 27-year-old is rated highly for his skill and reliability at the pinnacle of motorsport. On the other hand, Hamilton has been on an unsteady spell ever since he lost out on the title in 2021.

David Coulthard has thereafter claimed that it will be challenging for the 39-year-old to beat the pace of Charles Leclerc. Coulthard nevertheless hopes that the Maranello-based team will help Hamilton fight for the championship.

Lewis is rolling the dice again with Ferrari. It may well lead to a rejuvenation of performance and a fight for the world championship. But it is going to be challenging because he has got [to beat] a very fast Charles Leclerc.

The seven-time world champion was victorious twice this season, proving that he still has what it takes to race at the very top. His aim will now be to practice and keep himself prepared for a steady run with Ferrari from 2025 onwards.

But looking forward, Lewis is obviously a seven-time world champion, the most successful driver in Formula 1 ever, so it’s going to be a big challenge for me, but I’m really looking forward to it. On one side, I will be able to learn from Lewis in the same car as him, which is great, but as well as trying to prove what I’m capable of in the same car as Lewis, and this is a big motivation for me.

Leclerc has talked of getting to learn from the expertise of Hamilton being in the same car as him. The Monegasque driver has also talked of proving his worth while racing alongside some of the greatest drivers in the world.

Ferrari has been in the wait for the constructors’ title since 2008. They currently stand second in the title race this year, trailing McLaren by 36 points. With the arrival of Hamilton, the team will be confident of delivering title-winning performances year after year in Formula 1.
