Former British motorsport racer David Coulthard has delivered his predictions ahead of the 2024 United States GP. He has chosen McLaren to be the team at the top of the charts yet again at Austin this weekend.

McLaren has been on a terrific spell, scoring a total of 516 points so far this season. The team has undergone a major rebuild over the past 15 months, which has greatly improved their chances. They now lead the constructors’ championship and are the favorites to claim the title this year.

McLaren has to be in the pound seat. That car has been working fantastically well. Yes, there’s a period now where teams can have developed some upgrades and inevitably will take them to America, but it’s got to be a shoe in for McLaren for being the favorites for that Grand Prix.

David Coulthard spoke on the Formula for Success podcast

The Circuit of the Americas is a traditionally high-speed track, which has been McLaren’s forte all season long. They will hence be eyeing their chances dearly, looking to extend their lead massively in the title race from here on.

Lando Norris deems 2024 as a fun year for McLaren

McLaren driver Lando Norris has shared thoughts on his performances so far this year. Norris currently stands second in the drivers’ championship despite amassing three wins and 11 podiums this campaign.

As the season goes on, you always re-evaluate where do we stand now, and what’s our new expectations. Our expectations now, we’re a top team, and we’re fighting for wins, and we’re fighting for a Constructors’ Championship, and we’re fighting for a Drivers’ Championship. Just as much as it can go wrong, it can also go well, like it has done for us. We’re fighting against the best of the best, and it’s been a fun year.

The 24-year-old has praised his team for their meteoric rise during the ongoing season. He claims that the Woking-based outfit has been a top team and will remain so regardless of the result this season.

Norris currently trails by 52 points in the title race with six races to go. His aim would now be to win all of the upcoming races. The Brit must also be aware of not making any mistakes, as it could lead his hopes and aspirations into major jeopardy.
