Daniel Ricciardo was expected to perform better if not outshine his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda in the 2024 season. However, as depicted from recent results, the Aussie has failed to score well against Tsunoda. The Australian driver was eliminated from the Q2 session for the Monaco GP. As a result, this elimination rubbed more salt into the wounds of Ricciardo.

Daniel Ricciardo was expected to score much better results, especially at the Monaco GP. The 34-year-old already has a race win around the street circuit in 2018. Hence, fans expected the Aussie to at least outscore Yuki Tsunoda. However, Ricciardo wasn’t even able to steer clear of the Q2 qualifying session.

The 34-year-old will be under fire following such dull results against Tsunoda. Ricciardo runs the biggest risk of being replaced in the 2025 season. Liam Lawson will continue to be the favorite for replacing the Australian driver at RB. However, with Tsunoda considering a move to Haas in the coming season, 2025 might be extremely exciting for the RB crew.

Fans unhappy with Daniel Ricciardo’s degrading performance

In recent tweets on X, multiple fans showcased their resentment towards Ricciardo for being outqualified. One fan mentioned that Tsunoda once again ‘owned’ the Australian driver. Meanwhile, another added that despite their love for the Aussie, the driver was surely in his ‘last season’ following such mediocre performances.

While berating Ricciardo for losing out to Tsunoda, multiple fans pointed out Liam Lawson’s short but impressive debut as well. A particular fan claimed that Lawson needed to be in the Aussie’s seat at RB soon. Some fans did not hold back while disrespecting the Honey Badger. One fan added that the Australian was ‘s**t’ following his degrading performance at the pinnacle of motorsport.

Hence, the nightmare race weekends continue for Ricciardo as he continues to score mediocre performances. However, despite the bad performances, RB had hinted at wanting to retain the Tsunoda-Ricciardo duo for the coming season. The 34-year-old would like to put behind the Monaco weekend and start aiming to score better in the coming races now.
