The Emilia Romagna GP is underway. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez had a difficult Qualifying at Imola as the Mexican driver failed to make it to the top 10. Checo was in a dire need to improve in the Grand Prix. However, it seems that the situation went from bad to worse for the 34-year-old as he found himself in gravel during the race.

Sergio Perez failed to make up positions at the Emilia Romagna GP start. However, the Mexican driver had an advantage courtesy of the RB20. Unfortunately, the 34-year-old lost control during on Lap 18 and went straight into the gravel trap. While Perez’s teammate Max Verstappen continues to lead the race.

Luckily, Checo was able to retain enough traction to get back on track. However, the Mexican driver lost over 5 crucial seconds. This could severely hamper Sergio Perez’s prospects in the race as he tries to do damage limitation after a poor Qualifying. It might be difficult for Perez to even fight for a podium in the race.

Fans unhappy with Sergio Perez’s mistake at the Emilia Romagna GP

Fans on X blasted the Mexican driver. One user joked that the 34-year-old was driving as if he was doing Rallying instead of Formula 1. The user wrote, “Bro thinks this was rally.” Another fan claimed that Sergio Perez was simply trying to lose his Red Bull seat with such errors. The fan commented, “Perez trying to loose his seat challange.”

One fan shared a clip of a blind person driving a car, stating that this was how Sergio Perez was racing at Imola. While another user believed that this was Checo’s final season at Red Bull. The user said, “This is his last season with Red Bull.” Moreover, one fan bashed the Grand Prix as the ‘worst race of the season.’ for its lack of on-track action.

Certainly, Sergio Perez has endured yet another difficult race this season. The Mexican driver could once again feel pressure from Red Bull over his future at Milton Keynes. Checo would need to buckle up and improve his performances to ensure the Austrian team that he deserves to partner Max Verstappen.
