Daniel Ricciardo has suffered from a disappointing start to the 2024 season. The Australian driver runs a high risk of being replaced by another driver due to poor performance. Hence, the 34-year-old aimed to perform better at the Spanish GP. However, the Honey Badger has already been eliminated from the Q1 qualifying session in Spain.

The Spanish GP is infamous for the mix of high and low-speed corners. Yuki Tsunoda has ensured outshining Daniel Ricciardo on a majority of the occasions.

However, RB’s nightmare 2024 season continues as both drivers face elimination from the Q1 qualifying session. Additionally, Ricciardo’s elimination means that the 34-year-old will have to work extra hard to move up the pecking order.

Multiple people on the grid believed that Daniel Ricciardo would soon be ousted from RB due to failing performances. However, the team had previously showcased contentment with the current drivers’ lineup. Yuki Tsunoda on the other hand has already struck a one-year extension with the team. As a result, uncertainty glooms over Ricciardo’s future at Faenza.

Fans not surprised with Daniel Ricciardo’s Q1 elimination

In a recent tweet on X, multiple fans showcased their resentment towards Daniel Ricciardo’s disappointing Q1 elimination. One fan claimed that there were no surprises over the 34-year-old’s early elimination. Subsequently, another fan highlighted that RB’s failing performance despite the new upgrades was not a good look for the constructor.

Meanwhile, another fan called out RB to ‘get rid’ of the driver immediately due to such a performance. One fan further mentioned that it was high time to let Ricciardo out of the sport. Apart from this, a particular claimed that the Aussie driver was ‘washed’ due to failing performances.

RB had brought in multiple upgrades in the hope of improving performance. However, as showcased from the qualifying session, Faenza is unlikely to score any points. This will take a massive hit at RB’s chances of scoring a decent finish in the constructors’ championship towards the end of the 2024 season.
