Former Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa has shared his excitement about the ongoing battle for the Constructors’ Championship. McLaren and Red Bull are the top competitors, with the former leading the title race by 41 points.
Red Bull has been a dominant force, leading the championship charts since the 2021 season. Up until midway this year, the Milton Keynes-based team appeared invincible with its strong runs. However, McLaren has since pulled up clutch and overshadowed the reigning championships.
Red Bull has had its fair share of controversies and departures this year. The instability within the team has since been accredited to the absence of key personnel from their squad. Felipe Massa has opined that internal issues within the team might be a hindrance for them in the title race.
We have a team like McLaren doing an amazing job, which is the strongest team now, which could maybe change the result of the championship – both championships. It will not be easy on the drivers’ side. Max is very strong, a massive talent, a great driver. But what’s happening inside the team is not nice as well because politics doesn’t help, fights and politics don’t help the work of the people [inside the team].

Red Bull eyes bigger picture in light of Sergio Perez’ sacking rumors
Sergio Perez has been central to criticism since the midpoint of the 2023 season. The 35-year-old has secured only 144 points so far for Red Bull this year. In light of this, team principal Christian Horner has shared his thoughts on the Mexican’s future.

Obviously, we’ve got a contract with Sergio for next year, but you’ve always got to have an eye out in terms of what comes next? And, you know, is that going to be Liam? Or do we need to look outside the pool? Or will one of the other juniors step up in the fullness of time? Whether it’s Isack Hadjar or Arvid Lindblad.

Perez’s unpredictable form has greatly affected Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship this season. He will now have to perform and deliver results if he hopes to stay with the team till the end of his contract.
