Max Verstappen‘s swearing saga at the Singapore GP still continues to make headlines as the governing body hasn’t provided a definitive statement over it yet. Charles Leclerc was subsequently similarly penalized for over $10k. Hence, amidst the season finale coming up, Ex-F1 driver Felipe Massa reiterated the ‘ridiculous’ situation from FIA.
FIA’s recent ban on swear words on team radio came with massive backlash from the fans and drivers alike. The governing body penalized Max Verstappen with community service after he dropped an F-bomb during the press conference. Verstappen held his own protest throughout the weekend and even the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association (GPDA) seemed to join the movement demanding better conditions.
Felipe Massa recalled the controversial Singapore GP and hailed it ‘ridiculous’. Massa pointed out the fact that the drivers were ‘fighting’ with all they had for the world championship. Hence, the Brazilian believed that it was unfair and unjust not to allow the drivers to showcase their piece of mind verbally when they were angry.
What the FIA is doing is ridiculous. I mean, the drivers are fighting with everything they have for the world championship. When you can’t even say anything when you’re angry, come on.

Felipe Massa ‘completely disagree’ with FIA’s punishment of Max Verstappen
Max Verstappen continued to take subtle hits at FIA’s penalty to him following the fiasco. Hence, even Felipe Massa sided with the Dutchman in this sitch. Massa highlighted that he completely disagreed with the penalty. The Brazilian felt that the drivers were smart and responsible enough to know what to speak and when. As a result, the FIA didn’t need to interfere in the matters of the drivers while racing on the grid.
I completely disagreed with the FIA’s punishment. Drivers themselves understand what they can and can’t say, the FIA doesn’t need to interfere with that.
Felipe Massa added

The FIA has yet to publicly announce further changes to the previous rule disallowing swearing. The governing body is caught red-handed and must immediately respond. As for Verstappen, he continues to showcase impressive performances throughout the season and perform well, defying all odds.
