Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso had a frustrating moment with Visa Cash App RB’s Liam Lawson at the US GP Sprint race. Alonso finished in eighteenth place, failing to make up for his poor sprint qualifying result.

Liam Lawson has been chosen to drive for RB for the remainder of the 2024 season after Daniel Ricciardo‘s sacking. The 22-year-old made his best efforts in Austin but was found struggling evidently at certain points.

Fernando Alonso was furious with Lawson because the latter did not offer any space to him during a particular moment of the race. The RB driver’s move was considered dangerous, which led Alonso to rant about him on the radio.

The 43-year-old’s rant was noticed by the whole paddock, even the commentators took note of his scathing verbal attack on Lawson. Up next awaits an important qualifying session for the main race, which will offer both drivers a chance at redemption.

Visa Cash App RB currently stands P7 in the constructors’ championship, facing stiff competition from the Haas F1 team. Liam Lawson has since opened up on the team’s ambitions heading into the last six races of the campaign.

Lawson was impressive in his initial stints for RB (AlphaTauri) during the midway point of last season. He therefore finds himself in a position to prove his worth to a struggling Milton-Keynes-based team in 2024.

The 22-year-old is now on the lookout to secure as many points as possible for himself and his team until the end of the season. His performances in the remaining races will decide whether or not he stays on the grid in 2025.
