Fernando Alonso joined Aston Martin in 2023 to lead the English team to glory. This goal seemed possible with their early 2023 form, however, the team ran into problems and fell in the pecking order. On the other hand, the Silverstone-based outfit has been in a frenzy of hiring designers and engineers. This led to Alonso asserting that all the best designers join the British outfit amidst Adrian Newey‘s transfer rumors.

Adrian Newey‘s designs have collectively won over two dozen world championships. With a stellar past record and fame associated with his name, he is the hottest property in the transfer market. On the contrary, Aston Martin is known for poaching Red Bull staff as its Technical Director Dan Fallows was a previous Milton Keynes-based team’s employee.

We are going in the right direction now, and I think the team is becoming really very strong, very attractive for the rest of the year and especially for the future. All the best engineers and the best designers come to Aston Martin, to Silverstone, where there are the best facilities in Formula 1. So I think the future is bright, I'm very excited and I'm ready to have fun behind the wheel as well .
Fernando Alonso said at the Goodwood FOS as quoted by Formula Passion

Alonso elaborated that the team is headed in the right direction. Moreover, with Honda joining hands with them in 2026, this makes the Silverstone-based outfit a lucrative option for designers, subsequently the Spaniard pointed towards the possibility of Adrian Newey joining the team.

Fernando Alonso happy with Aston Martin’ double points finish in Silverstone

Apart from speculations looming around the paddock regarding where Newey would end up, the English team was moving through a rough patch and had failed to score points over the past few weeks. However, the team’s home weekend brought much-needed motivation for them.

The 42-year-old explained how the team came together during their rough patch and was rewarded with the double points finish in Silverstone.

I think we understood a few mistakes that maybe we made in Barcelona and Austria. We regrouped after Austria, and we wanted to do definitely better in our home Grand Prix, in front of our employees, our factory here. So [I’m] happy with seventh and eighth for the team. It’s a good boost into Hungary and Spa so, yeah, a much better weekend.
Fernando Alonso said in the post-race interview as quoted by F1

Alonso admitted that the team understood the mistakes made in Spain and Austria. This warranted the team to come closer together as they wanted to exhibit their performance at their home race and reward their fans with something to cheer for.

Moreover, with a P7 and P8 finish, the team got a nice boost for the upcoming races in Hungary and Belgium. Thus, Aston Martin would have found some groove in the pecking order and would aim their sights to recreate their early 2023 success with scheduled upgrade packages down the line.
