Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso lost his calm and gave in to his emotions during a treacherous race in Qatar on Sunday. The two-time world champion was heard cussing about the AMR24’s straight-line speed in Lusail.

Fernando Alonso, despite being 43 years of age, continues to race at the pinnacle of motorsport. However, his current season with the Silverstone-based team has been nothing but a bed of thorns. The Spaniard has secured only 68 points this season, struggling to find pace within the AMR24. During the Lusail race, Alonso got on the radio and said, ‘I cannot fuc***g believe it‘ while bashing his car’s straight-line speed.

Alonso has since clarified that his car has not been able to deploy energy in a proper manner this season. The two-time world champion feels that an underlying issue is headlocking the AMR24’s true pace in crucial moments.

I think the car is confused that we are still thinking that we are behind the safety car, so we don’t deploy the energy properly out of the last corner when it’s a green flag. That obviously is very costly if you don’t deploy the energy when you have all the cars around you. We lost, I think, two or three places at the first restart, and that was very worrying for the final outcome of the race.

The veteran driver feels that he could have definitely achieved more in the Qatar GP. Heading into the final race at Abu Dhabi, Alonso’s hopes will rest on Aston Martin to present a better package.

A very good Sunday for us, finishing in seventh and with six points scored. The car felt a little stronger than yesterday, and we capitalised on some of the action ahead of us with some retirements and penalties, but we were in the right place at the right time tonight. It’s a good time to get some points on the board for the team, and hopefully we can carry this form into Abu Dhabi and finish the season on a high there.

The Spaniard claims that his team was on the better side due to the various retirements and penalties during the Qatar GP. He now hopes to deliver an even better run in the concluding race of the season this weekend.

With major technical advancements and the arrival of experienced personnel, the Silverstone-based team is on a rebuild. In light of the new regulations of 2026, Aston Martin could finally rise as a title challenger in the coming years.
