Red Bull’s chief technology officer Adrian Newey announced his departure from the team during the Miami GP. The 65-year-old had been with the team for almost two decades and helped them win multiple championships. He was rumored to join Aston Martin as the Silverstone-based squad continues to face problems. However, Fernando Alonso believes that Newey’s move alone will not resolve all of Aston Martin’s issues.
Fernando Alonso commented on Adrian Newey joining Aston Martin as they’re just the rumors and not officially announced. He has reportedly agreed to join Aston Martin with a $100 million deal. However, Alonso believed that solving the team’s problems isn’t something one person can do alone. Instead, it’s more about looking at what the team currently has and what they are producing. Newey’s talent alone is just not enough to solve the problems they’re facing currently.
Well, there’s still only rumors, and I think it’s not only one man’s job to fix things. It’s more what we have now and what we are producing.Fernando Alonso said, as reported by Crash.net

Fernando Alonso emphasized that to address a team’s issues, it’s crucial to identify what is working well and what isn’t. The team needs to closely evaluate which aspects of their current setup are successful and which ones require improvement. This approach will ultimately help the team prepare better for the 2025 season and avoid the issues they are facing in 2024. They need to address their current problems effectively to improve their future performance.
Understanding what is going in the right direction, what is going in the wrong direction, and try to prepare for 2025 in a better way.Fernando Alonso added.
Fernando Alonso asserts drivers have no control over the current situation at Aston Martin
Fernando Alonso reflected on recent poor performance saying the drivers can do nothing about it. He explained that both he and his teammate, Lance Stroll, are doing their best every weekend to perform well. Alonso emphasized that their efforts are limited to driving as best as they can, and the rest depends on the team’s decisions and improvements.

Nothing we can do. I mean, we are in our team’s hands, and I think Lance and myself, we’re trying to do the best we can every weekend.Fernando Alonso stated.
Certainly, Alonso stressed that, despite their efforts, they cannot control their performance due to ongoing car issues. Fans hope Adrian Newey’s rumored arrival in 2025 will boost the team’s development and enable them to perform well in 2026 with the new regulations.
