Aston Martin driver Fernando Alonso performed strongly in the recent qualifying to chart P7 ahead of the 72-lap Dutch GP. This result has been one of the few instances when Alonso has started inside the top 10 this season.
Fernando Alonso has been fairly dismissive about the Silverstone-based team’s chances this campaign. Alonso has often dissected the issues with the AMR24 in comparison to the brilliance of the previous year’s AMR23.
After the Zandvoort qualifying, the veteran Spaniard has labeled the event as a lottery for his team. Alonso has pinpointed turns 9 and 10 as the main factors affecting AMR24’s pace around the 4.2 km Zandvoort circuit on Saturday.
I am happy with my Qualifying today and both cars in Q3 is a positive result for us. It felt like a lottery sometimes out on track depending on how gusty it was, particularly in Turns 9 and 10.Fernando Alonso said after the Dutch GP qualifying

The two-time world champion has amassed only 49 points this season and will be looking forward to the main race. His approach would be dependent on the team’s competence in strategy and pace to move forward during the race.
Fernando Alonso cites key reason for Aston Martin’s positive performance in qualifying
Aston Martin secured seventh and ninth place during qualifying at Zandvoort, appearing to find their balance after a disappointing campaign so far. Fernando Alonso has talked about the changes within the team that affected their performance on Saturday.
I haven't made any improvements. It's not noticeable, but we understand the car better, which is what we tried to do in free practice. Making changes that we missed in Spa or Hungary, now that we know the car a little better.Fernando Alonso spoke to DAZN after qualifying
The 43-year-old accredited his performance to an increased understanding of the AMR24 by Aston Martin. While Alonso claimed to have made no significant personal improvements, he did talk of making collective changes after his shortfalls at Spa and Budapest.
The Silverstone-based team heads into the Dutch GP desperately needing to perform well and score solid points. Their drivers will therefore make efforts to do just that during the challenging 72-lap race.
