The American races do not fail to showcase great glamor and pizzazz over the race weekends. The Sin City is infamous for gambling, drinking, and sometimes even drugs. Hence, as Formula 1 heads into the Las Vegas GP weekend, Franco Colapinto joked about smelling marijuana around the circuit.

The inaugural Las Vegas GP was a massive success with the city reaping great benefits from the race weekend. Hence, the second race at the circuit is supposed to be just as glamorous if not more. The excitement and competition continue to peak in the 2024 season as Max Verstappen could win the championship this weekend. As a result, such a great event called for smoking marijuana for some residents of Sin City.

Franco Colapinto claimed that there was a distinct smell of marijuana while driving around the circuit. Following this claim, the Argentine joked that the drivers would be ‘doped’ from the smell itself. This meant that the drivers would also fail the doping test and produce ‘positive’ results for consuming drugs at the Las Vegas GP.

Sergio Perez felt ‘tired’ of the ‘noticeable’ smell of Marijuana around the circuit

Even Sergio Perez decided to side with Colapinto following the claims of the smell of marijuana. The 34-year-old noted that there was a ‘noticeable’ smell of the narcotic throughout the night of the practice sessions. Perez was already tired of the ‘incredible amount’ of smell as the majority of the weekend was still pending to be concluded.

The Las Vegas GP is also showcasing some of the lowest temperatures for the drivers to run around. The championship leader, Max Verstappen has already started facing grip issues around the circuit. Hence, with the Qualifying session impending, the teams rush into finalizing the setup for the final American race of the 2024 season.
