Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has shown confidence in his team despite their recent dip in form. The Maranello-based team has been outpaced by Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes in the past few races.
Ferrari was one of the strongest teams at the start of the season, battling and excelling against the likes of Red Bull. But a sudden decline in form ever since their extravagant win at Monaco has seen them fall to third in the championship behind McLaren.
Fred Vasseur however, remains in praise of his team by talking of the improvements since his arrival last year. The Frenchman took the example of Ferrari’s pitstop struggles in 2022 and 2023, claiming a massive upturn this season.
Every time we focus on an aspect we improve it. Take the pit stops for example. When I arrived in the team they were a drama. We did over 2000 tests during the winter and now Ferrari is the second fastest team. It's about taking the right risks. I doubt that Red Bull has a magic button, they simply knew how to dare on several fronts and so they built a gap.Fred Vasseur spoke to the New York Times
Vasseur asserted that issues within a team are resolved by continuous practice and proper execution. He will now be hopeful of the Maranello-based outfit’s comeback at Spa-Francorchamps before making an assessment during the summer break.
Charles Leclerc’ take on solving Ferrari’s performance woes
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has addressed a persistent issue with the SF-24 while talking of the team’s downfall this season. Leclerc claimed that a resolution of the issue would unlock a sizable pace and prowess for the team.
I think when we erase our bouncing issue completely, we can find a really good level of performance. That is what has been slowing us down in the development race, and it is where we are focusing at the moment. Once the bouncing is gone, I think it will help us to make quite a big step forward.Charles Leclerc said to the media including RacingNews365
Charles Leclerc was pitted as the most likely to win the championship during the initial stages of the season. Unfortunately, the Monegasque’s home win started a series of poor runs, he currently trails Max Verstappen by 103 points.
The Maranello-based outfit will now seek to minimize their issues with bouncing around the Spa racing circuit. Leclerc will make his best attempts at replicating his performance in 2019 in Belgium, where he secured his maiden win.
