Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton‘s performance at the US GP was much better compared to their recent few woeful weeks. After returning from the summer break, the Scuderia had failed to achieve any notable results.
However, the team managed a P3 and P4 finish in Austin, with Charles Leclerc taking the podium finish. Now, Team Principal Fred Vasseur makes a bold claim on the team’s apparent resurgence following a positive outing at COTA.
Following a second row finish at the US GP, Ferrari has managed to cut short the point deficit to Mercedes in the constructors’ standings down to just seven points. Even Lewis Hamilton seemed competitive as he had a shot at a podium finish if the stint had been managed better by the team. Regardless, Hamilton’s pace was promising, and he looks stronger than ever at Maranello.
Fred Vasseur was delighted with this fact and talked highly about Lewis Hamilton and his improvement in the recent races, especially at the US GP. Vasseur insisted that the COTA results were great for the constructors as both cars were scoring great points. The Frenchman highlighted that such results were important for the Scuderia as they wanted to maximize their results for the rest of the season.
Moreover, Fred Vasseur made a bold claim that Lewis Hamilton was now back in terms of positive results. Vasseur shed light on the fact that Hamilton was faster than Charles Leclerc for the majority of the American race weekend. The Frenchman reiterated that such results were great for the team and emulation of the constructor as a whole.
It’s good for the team because we need to have this kind of emulation for everybody. You need to have two cars. For us it’s important, and if we want to maximise the number of points that we’ll score until the end, we have to score with two cars for sure, And Lewis is back. Two thirds of the weekend he was faster than Charles this weekend. It’s good for the team and the emulation.
Fred Vasseur told Sky Sports Germany.
Lewis Hamilton feels ‘on top of the car’ after positive US GP outing
Lewis Hamilton was definitely performing much better throughout the US GP weekend as compared to all the previous races combined. The Briton has shifted his priority to the 2026 season and can definitely come up as a winning force by then. Now, after improving results in Austin, Hamilton feels very confident in his skin, especially on track.

Lewis Hamilton asserted that he was finally feeling on top of the car. He accepted that the team could make some improvements in the car and extract more performance from the SF-25 with some upgrades.
Hamilton insisted that there were always areas to improve for him as he hoped to do so in the coming race weekends. Now, the 40-year-old is looking forward to the upcoming Mexican GP weekend and performing similarly, if not better, in Mexico.
I’m finally feeling like I’m on top of the car. I think we still have some improvements that we can make, we can definitely extract more, particularly on my side. Qualifying wasn’t as good as I’d hoped and then, as I said, the start wasn’t great today. There’s always areas to improve, but there’s positives going into the next race, I’m hoping we can have an even better weekend.
Lewis Hamilton said in a post-race interview.

Ferrari can finally regain their runner-up finish in the constructors’ title if it manages to keep up with such results. Mercedes is suffering from their own problems, but the Las Vegas GP would definitely be favorable for the Silver Arrows. As such, the constructors’ battle will also be extremely interesting to witness as Lewis Hamilton hopes to achieve the best possible results.
