Lewis Hamilton made his first public appearance for Scuderia Ferrari at F1 75 in London. The seven-time world champion asserted that he was ready for the latest chapter of his career. Now, team boss Fred Vasseur has insisted that he is not concerned over a potential rivalry between Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

Charles Leclerc has raced for the Prancing Horse since 2019. The Monegasque driver has built the team around him over the years. However, Lewis Hamilton will be looking to win over Maranello in hopes of fighting for the world title this year. Some have already predicted a fierce battle between the two this season.

Nevertheless, Fred Vasseur made it clear that he was not scared of his two drivers going up against one another. Rather, the Frenchman reckoned this would only make Hamilton and Leclerc push themselves further over the course of the season. Lewis Hamilton has already stated that he wants to achieve success with the Italian team.

Honestly, I’m not scared at all [of them competing], because we need to have this kind of emulation.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc to be in ‘positive’ competition

Vasseur acknowledged that Ferrari needs both drivers to perform to win the constructors’ title. As such, the Ferrari boss wants to see positive competition between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. He pointed out that this was the case last year, when Carlos Sainz raced alongside Leclerc. Fred Vasseur was convinced that Hamilton will continue this spirit in 2025.

It was already the case [with Carlos], but as a team, if we want to perform, we need to have two drivers performing. We need to have two drivers in a kind of competition, a positive competition and a positive emulation. And I’m sure that it will be the case.

Fred Vasseur added

Certainly, Ferrari is set to have an exciting season. Lewis Hamilton’s arrival has rejuvenated the team, with high ambitions for its upcoming campaign. Though, things will not be so easy for Maranello on-track as Red Bull and McLaren aim to win the world championship. Thus, the Tifosi can expect a challenging season ahead.
