George Russell will have to fill Lewis Hamilton’s shoes at Mercedes following the latter’s switch to Ferrari in 2025. Prodigy Kimi Antonelli has replaced the seven-time champion at Brackley. Following the massive changes in the team, the Briton showcased his excitement for performing in the coming season, especially after the ‘reset’.
George Russell is all set to take on the ‘lead’ role at Mercedes and help Kimi Antonelli get up to speed. The Silver Arrows suffered from a mediocre performance in the 2024 season and must improve in the coming season. Russell reflected upon the ‘tough’ years for Brackley recently. The 26-year-old accepted that the team did not have success anywhere near what they hoped for. Moreover, the Briton highlighted that the German carmaker needed the struggling years in order to ‘reset’ and get a fresh start.

Russell claimed that the coming few years would be ‘huge’ for the team, especially after Hamilton’s exit. The 26-year-old reckoned that getting the setup right would set Brackley up for success in many more years to come.
