Max Verstappen recently debuted in GT3 racing at the Nürburgring and made history in motorsport. The Dutchman acquired his Permit A after debuting with the Porsche GT4 at Nordschleife a few weeks ago. Right after, Verstappen raced in the GT3 format and emerged victorious in his very first race at the Nürburgring.

As such, one of the Dutchman’s arch-nemesis, George Russell, weighs in on the reigning F1 champ’s excursions in various motorsports. Certainly, Max Verstappen is a racer through and through, which was proved even more after he made his mark in the GT3 category.

The Dutchman has already talked about moving to other racing categories after his F1 exit. As such, it isn’t much of a surprise to witness Verstappen take an interest in participating in other categories. Even though Lando Norris believed that it is easy for the 27-year-old to partake in such events, George Russell feels otherwise.

George Russell is not always on the best of terms with Max Verstappen. Still, the Briton was gracious enough to applaud the reigning champion and his achievements. Russell labeled Verstappen’s recent Nurburgring outing as incredible. Further, the Silver Arrow continued that the rest of the F1 drivers were certainly jealous of the Dutchman and his ability as a racing driver.

George Russell explained that to have such a successful career in F1 and go out and excel in other motorsports was nothing short of a masterclass from Max Verstappen. The Briton accepted that other drivers trying out such a feat wouldn’t be so easy and straightforward. Russell insisted that drivers were still fighting for their first wins while Verstappen was winning in every class he set foot on.

It’s incredible, to be honest, I think we’re all pretty jealous of it, because having this freedom of firstly doing what you love in Formula 1, but then also being able to go out and race other things and just enjoy it at your leisure… I don’t think it’s quite that straightforward for other people doing it, but you have that right when you win four world championships, and we’re all here fighting to win our first.

George Russell said, as reported by motorsport.com.

George Russell aims to follow in Max Verstappen’s footsteps ‘one day’

Max Verstappen is also in the mix for the drivers’ title in the 2025 season after his shocking turnaround in performance. As such, every driver would want to achieve the level of passion and success that Verstappen has achieved so far in various categories of motorsports. Even George Russell, who is yet to even contend for his driver’s title, talked about potentially following the Dutchman’s decisions later.

George Russell joked that after he won four drivers’ titles in the pinnacle of motorsport, he would be able to choose to participate in various categories. Regardless, Russell declared that he respected Max Verstappen and his racing talent a lot. The Briton added that he would definitely love to do such excursions one day in the future of his racing career.

Maybe after four championships under our belts, we’ll be able to choose to do the same. But no, I respect it a lot and definitely I would love to do it one day. Brilliant.

George Russell noted.

The 2025 season of Formula 1 has been filled with massive ups and downs for Max Verstappen. Still, he is giving it his all on the track and is currently on a two-race win streak. Verstappen will aim to continue the streak and achieve his first victory at the Singaporean GP. Now, time will tell about how he manages to put the McLarens at bay and assert his dominance in the sport further.
