Lewis Hamilton joins Ferrari this year as a teammate to Charles Leclerc. The seven-time world champion has high ambitions for his journey with the Italian team. However, former F1 driver Gerhard Berger has asserted that things might not be so easy for the Briton.
Hamilton comes to Maranello after a couple of difficult seasons with Mercedes. The 40-year-old grew frustrated at the Silver Arrows and looked for greener pastures. While Charles Leclerc will be looking to solidify his position against the F1 champion’s arrival.
Berger reckoned that Lewis Hamilton might need to ‘grit his teeth’ during his debut campaign with the Scuderia. If Hamilton manages to stay patient, he can gain back his form once again. The 65-year-old reckoned that the Briton might struggle against Leclerc over the course of the season.
He’ll have to grit his teeth again at Ferrari and could well be at his best once more. On the other hand, I think he’ll struggle against Leclerc’s speed. It’s going to be a very tight race.

Lewis Hamilton had ‘two problems’ at Mercedes
Gerhard Berger claimed that Hamilton suffered from two problems during his final few seasons at Mercedes. Berger insisted that the Silver Arrows failed to give him a car capable of winning races regularly. Moreover, the 40-year-old needed a change of scenery after being at Brackley for over a decade.

He has had two problems: the Mercedes has only been a winning car on exceptional occasions, and he has now been in the same team for so long that only a change of scenery will help.
Gerhard Berger stated
Certainly, Lewis Hamilton is rejuvenated following his switch to Ferrari. The British driver wants to get back in contention for the title this year. However, it remains to be seen if the Italian team can take the fight against McLaren and Red Bull at the start of this year.
