Red Bull driver Max Verstappen ended his winless drought of 11 races by securing the victory from P17 at the Brazilian GP. Verstappen now holds a 62-point lead at the top of the drivers’ championship charts against Lando Norris this season.

Max Verstappen has had a mixed 2024 season so far. He won seven out of the first 10 races, showcasing true pace and skill for the Milton-Keynes-based team. The Dutch driver then failed to keep up his form due to unresolved issues with the RB20.

Technical advisor Helmut Marko therefore applauded Verstappen, who rediscovered his lost mojo at Interlagos on Sunday. Marko claimed that the three-time world champion has truly cemented his chances of winning the title this year.

Verstappen now has the chance to continue building on his momentum with three races remaining this year. He will nevertheless hope that his team finds even greater performance within the RB20 during the break.

Christian Horner highlighted Verstappen’s ability to perform for Red Bull despite not having the best car on the grid. The 50-year-old did not expect the Dutch driver to win by overtaking 17 cars on a tricky afternoon at Interlagos.

Only five of all the championship races have been won from P17 or lower on the grid in Formula 1. Verstappen’s win is therefore truly one for the history books. The 27-year-old continues proving as to why he is among the very best in the current era of motorsport.
