Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko was not so satisfied with FIA’s decision to move the DRS activation point at the Belgian GP last weekend. The stewards decided to shift the point 75 meters back from Kemmel straight at Spa-Francorchamps. This situation made it harder for car’s to overtake on a track with long straights. Marko expressed his opinion on the same.
Dr. Helmut Marko was surprised and disappointed by the FIA’s decision to move the DRS activation point back on the Kemmel Straight. Despite the long straights, which should make overtaking easier, he found it just as difficult to pass other cars as on the twisty track in Hungary. The Spa is expected to allow the car’s to overtake easily, however the changes in the DRS activation point made it difficult. Max Verstappen was also one of the drivers who had to face similar situation.
We were negatively surprised. It turned out that overtaking was just as difficult as in Hungary , even though the straights are much longer here.Helmut Marko said, as reported by Soymotor.com

Marko felt incomprehensible that the DRS were shortened. He believed it made no sense to reduce the DRS zone with the current generation of cars. The cars are designed to benefit from the DRS system, which helps them overtake more easily on straights. Therefore, Marko reckoned the change has made it unnecessarily difficult for drivers to pass each other on tracks with long straights where overtaking should be easier.
It is incomprehensible that with these cars the DRS zone was reduced.Helmut Marko added.
Helmut Marko believes McLaren and Mercedes battle could benefit Max Verstappen in Drivers’ Championship
Helmut Marko believed McLaren and Mercedes battling against each other could help Red Bull in the Drivers’ Championship. This situation would help Red Bull maintain their lead, which is crucial for the rest of the season. He warned that although Red Bull currently holds a significant advantage, minor mistakes or a car retirement could quickly tighten the competition. Therefore, Marko sees the McLaren and Mercedes battle as a helpful factor that could keep Max Verstappen ahead.

McLaren and Mercedes can take points off each other , which is something we need for the rest of the season. In the Drivers' Championship, we seem to have a big advantage, but a mistake or a retirement will make things much tighter.Helmut Marko stated.
Certainly, Helmut Marko stated that Red Bull needs to be more alert and they must avoid making small mistakes. A single mistake would affect their lead which they’ve maintained in the championships. He is optimistic that Red Bull will bounce back from the challenges they faced in the last few races and fight for the title.
