Mercedes has continued to showcase a great turnaround in performance compared to the start of the season. Brackley has scored two consecutive race victories after winning the Austrian and the British GP. Lewis Hamilton put forth an amazing drive around his home circuit and scored the highly anticipated victory after a gap of 945 days. Hence, Helmut Marko was full of praise for the seven-time world champion.
Lewis Hamilton was extremely emotional after scoring his long-awaited victory in Formula 1. Helmut Marko noted that the 39-year-old was deserving of all the praises and heartwarming gestures. Additionally, Marko claimed that the Briton held up well on the dry track against the in-form Max Verstappen. Hence, tire management was one of the strengths for Hamilton according to the Red Bull advisor.
You can only congratulate Hamilton, He held up well on a dry track. You then see his strength in terms of tyre management.Helmut Marko via Sky Deutschland.
Marko recalled that the Briton’s tires had visible graining while racing around the circuit towards the last stint. Regardless, the seven-time world champion managed his tires till the end and fended off well against Verstappen. As a result, the Austrian labeled Hamilton as the master who could read a race and challenged the tire perfectly.
We could see that his tyres had already started to grain slightly. And we thought it would be OK, but that shows what a master he is, who can read a race and who challenges the tyres just right so that they don’t collapse.Helmut Marko added.
Helmut Marko claimed Lewis Hamilton still had a ‘lot of speed’ driving in a F1 chassis
Lewis Hamilton had several moments of self-doubt continuing his career in Formula 1. The reason for this was the huge blip in performance that Hamilton was unable to recover from. The Briton hadn’t won any race after the 2021 Saudi Arabian GP. Hence, the Silverstone victory was a great shift of pace for the 39-year-old.

Helmut Marko further applauded the Sunday race winner. Marko claimed that Hamilton did a great job despite the uncertainties and difficulties. The Austrian added that the Briton did a ‘great job’ and showcased just how much experience and speed the seven-time world champion had in him.
Lewis Hamilton did a great job, and that just shows how much experience and speed he still has.
Helmut Marko noted.
Hence, the competition for the 2024 season further increased with Mercedes joining the battle for the race wins. The season has already put forth six different race winners so far. As a result, the end-of-the-campaign could showcase a great challenge for the top spot in the constructors’ championship.
