Max Verstappen‘s Red Bull future was under intense scrutiny amid his desperate struggles mid-way through the 2025 season. The Dutchman was rumored to exit the team by activating an alleged clause that allowed him to leave if he fell below a certain position in the title standings.

However, Verstappen declared that he was continuing with the team for the near future. Now, outgoing Helmut Marko has shared his thoughts on the four-time champion’s Red Bull future.

Helmut Marko recently announced his shocking exit from Red Bull following the disappointments faced in the 2025 season. Milton Keynes is currently going through a phase of massive changes as the team hopes to return to its competitive ways under the new regulations.

Though Marko is set to leave the team, Max Verstappen is going to continue racing for the team and not leave alongside the 82-year-old. Speaking on Max Verstappen’s future, Helmut Marko revealed the conditions that the former would want if he were to continue racing for Red Bull.

He insisted that the Dutchman not only wants to win, but he wanted to succeed in a harmonious environment within the team. As soon as Verstappen feels that his dream isn’t being fulfilled at Milton Keynes, he wouldn’t hesitate to call it quits.

Helmut Marko believes that Max Verstappen wouldn’t hesitate to make the tough decision to quit racing for Red Bull. Though Marko believes that the 28-year-old is far too young currently to make the call and stop racing for the Austrian constructor.

The team has undergone some massive changes, and if they help revive the performance for the team, the Dutchman will definitely continue giving it his all for the constructor and keep achieving the best results possible.

No. Max not only wants to succeed, but he wants to succeed in a harmonious environment, When he doesn’t have that anymore, he stops from one day to the next. But he is still far too young for that.

Helmut Marko reveals Max Verstappen’s reaction to him leaving Red Bull in 2026

The Austrian and Max Verstappen were extremely close to one another, with the latter even claiming that he would follow the 82-year-old if he were to leave Red Bull. However, now it isn’t going to hold true as he has completely left Formula 1.

Still, Helmut Marko revealed how Max Verstappen took the news of Helmut Marko leaving Red Bull. The Austrian insisted that Verstappen was indeed a little sad about the former leaving the constructor.

The two reviewed their incredible time together at Milton Keynes and hence left one another on happy terms. Marko added that he was the first one, alongside the Dutchman’s race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase, who still believed in the championship hopes and wanted to win it in the 2025 season.

I would say that he was already a little sad about it, We once again reviewed the incredible time together. I was the first this season and then, together with Gianpiero Lambiase, also the only one within the team who still believed in this world championship title.

Helmut Marko noted

Despite the intense attempts by Red Bull and Max Verstappen to win the 2025 title, it unfortunately wasn’t in the cards for them. The team couldn’t end the ground-effect era on a good note.

Regardless, if anything, the woes of the 2025 season would only fuel Verstappen’s hunger to keep achieving the maximum in Formula 1. He will return in the 2026 season with the same enthusiasm and hope to keep up with his winning pace.
