The late Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz‘s death caused a lot of problems for Helmut Marko regarding his job with the team. The Red Bull advisor was rumored to be ousted after being accused of leaking private information in the Christian Horner sexual assault saga. Regardless, the 81-year-old has continued working with the team and noted that he wouldn’t be hindered by anything in any way.

Helmut Marko and Christian Horner have made peace following the past rumors of the former leaking crucial information. Additionally, Marko shares a great bond with Max Verstappen and Jos Verstappen. Hence, the 81-year-old reckoned that his motivation to continue working in the sport even at such an advanced age was because of his passion, enthusiasm, and also his bond with the Verstappens.

My motivation is my passion, my enthusiasm for the sport and, of course, the strong bond with Max Verstappen and the Verstappens in general.

Hence, after overcoming the issues, Marko made sure that his stay with Red Bull would not be hindered or limited in any way. As a result, the Austrian could make decisions in the best interest of Max Verstappen.

However, following the suspension rumors, Marko declared that he was independent and was in Formula 1 out of his own will. Red Bull has continued to work hard on improving their pace in the 2024 season. The team has already been ousted from the top spot in the constructors’ championship by McLaren. Hence, Verstappen will have to work extra hard to ensure he is able to maintain his top position ahead of a fast-charging Lando Norris.
