Sergio Perez continues to suffer from performance slump mid-way through the 2024 season. The Mexican driver has hoped to improve on performance over multiple race weekends. However, Perez crashed out at the Hungarian GP qualifying and sustained a difficult start to the race. Upon the 34-year-old’s degrading form, Helmut Marko noted that he would be looked over after the Belgian GP.

Subsequently, Marko reflected on the Mexican’s Hungarian GP performance and how the latter drove a good race. However, the 81-year-old further pointed out that he would fly to England after the upcoming Belgian GP and discuss Perez’s future in the team with Christian Horner. Hence, the 34-year-old must put forth some extremely beneficial statements to make the team reconsider his potential termination.

Perez claimed that he was pushing at the wrong place at the wrong time before crashing and noted that he would take great learnings from these errors.

I think we were just pushing out there at the wrong time, but it could have happened to anyone, The track just got wetter in Turn 8. I will learn from those errors, but they can happen to anyone. So, head down and, like I said, the most important is the pace is there.

Sergio Perez told ORF.

Red Bull is also facing major issues with their chassis performance down the season. Hence, Milton Keynes will need to continue to upgrade the chassis to rejoin the competition at the forefront. Additionally, Perez has to showcase his best results at the upcoming Belgian GP to strengthen his case.
