Helmut Marko sends warning to Ferrari after Miami win: “We have a world champion in our house”
Max Verstappen on the podium after winning the Miami GP
Red Bull are on a high at the moment given Max Verstappen’s phenomenal win at the inaugural Miami Grand Prix yesterday. Verstappen decreased the gap in points between him and pole-sitter for the race yesterday, Charles Leclerc by overtaking Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz from P2 in Turn 1 and then closing in on Leclerc. He went on to successfully take the lead away from Monacan driver Charles Leclerc on the main straight right at the beginning of Lap 9.
Recently crowned world champion Verstappen displayed superior levels of pace in his RB18 in the latest street track in America yesterday which was graced with the presence of star-studded celebrities. Pole sitter Leclerc had suddenly visibly regained his pace in the closing laps of the Miami GP only to lose out to the Dutch driver despite having DRS enabled.
What is to note is that Max Verstappen has come out victorious in all the three races he finished this season. He has successfully brought down the gap in the points between him and Leclerc to just 19 points irrespective of the fact that he had two DNFs this season.

Marko underlined on how the race weekend had initially started out rocky for them but ended with Verstappen winning his second consecutive race this season, and third win this season overall. After the Australian Grand Prix got concluded there was still a major 40 points gap between Red Bull and their rival Ferrari but Verstappen’s victory yesterday brought down that gap to just 19 points.
“It will be a fight between Max and Leclerc,” Marko was overheard saying to the reporters post the Miami Grand Prix. “This shows that we have a world champion in our house. We can count on him and he must also be able to deliver under difficult conditions. It is so close with Ferrari,” added the former Austrian motorsports racing driver.
