Williams Racing team principal James Vowles is extremely pleased after signing Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz from 2025 onwards. Sainz will be leaving the Maranello-based outfit after four successful campaigns with them.

Carlos Sainz has proven his worth as a top driver time and again over the years. Several teams rushed to engage in negotiations with the 29-year-old upon news of his departure. But Williams Racing was the team that interested Sainz the most.

Williams has not had a good run so far this season, amassing only four points in 14 races. However, James Vowles has been clear in focusing his intent on the future rather than the ongoing campaign.

When people ask me – Are you happy or unhappy with 2024? I don’t care. I hate to say it, but it doesn’t mean anything for me. I love scoring points in Monaco, but I’m really excited by what we have coming up in 2025, 2026 and 2027. As that’s where we’re investing our time and resources.

Vowles further clarified that the motive of the Grove-based team lies in utilizing their resources for 2026. They will now work in order to develop a competitive challenger, which would help Sainz perform to his utmost limit from next year onwards.

Alex Albon claims Williams has strong foundations despite disappointing results

While Vowles is eagerly looking forward to the upcoming years, Alex Albon had a frustrating first half in the 2024 season. Albon has since speculated on a lackluster run from the team but has concluded on some positives as well.

A lot of what-ifs but I'm happy we're getting the foundations in place. I don't think without the changes we've made, I would ever see us as a team that can get out of this backfield battle. I feel like now at least we've got foundations that can bring us up.

Alex Albon has praised the recent developments within the team, deeming them vital for Williams prospects against the backmarkers this season. The outfit is currently in ninth place in the Constructors standings.

Albon has been a tireless performer for the Grove-based team since joining them in 2022. Going ahead, he will hope to channel some more of his brilliance to help his team muster points after the ongoing summer break.
