Ferrari’s outing at their home race of the Italian GP turned out to be worse than they expected. Both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton couldn’t fight for a podium finish, let alone a race win. The team’s woes began early in the Qualifying session, and the team did not ask Hamilton to help the Monegasque achieve a better starting position. Now, ex-Ferrari star Jean Alesi slammed the 40-year-old and his decision not to help his teammate.
Lewis Hamilton had positive feelings after coming back from the emotional summer break and hoped for better results in the remaining races. However, a brutal five-place grid penalty for the Italian GP further ruined Hamilton’s chances to shine. Moreover, during the Qualifying session, the 40-year-old could’ve provided a tow to Charles Leclerc and helped him gain a better starting position than P4.
Charles Leclerc was left confused and irritated after the events that unfolded during the Qualifying session, and Lewis Hamilton did not provide him with a tow. Now, even Jean Alesi has condemned Hamilton and the team’s decision not to prioritize Leclerc at Monza, considering he had a legit shot at achieving a better starting position.
Jean Alesi did not mince his words while claiming that he did not like Lewis Hamilton’s attitude at the temple of speed at all. Alesi insisted that Hamilton could have and should have helped Leclerc during the Qualifying session on Saturday. The Frenchman asserted that everyone, including the Tifosi, expected the seven-time champion to help his Monegasque counterpart without even being asked to do so.
I didn’t like Hamilton’s attitude. He really could have, and perhaps should have, helped Leclerc in qualifying on Saturday. Everyone expected Lewis to behave like that, without even being asked to do so, given his words, the course of the season, and his first encounter with the Italian fans.
Jean Alesi told Corriere della Sera

Jean Alesi provides timeline for Lewis Hamilton’s comeback
Lewis Hamilton has remained vocal on the issues he has been facing with Ferrari this season in terms of performance. As such, Hamilton has already shifted his focus away from this season and onto the upcoming one. The 40-year-old expects to emerge as a winning force by then and contend for the driver’s title before considering exiting the team. Jean Alesi was in acceptance of this possibility as well.

Jean Alesi reckoned that a better starting position for Ferrari would have hardly meant anything positive for them anyway. Max Verstappen and McLaren’s dominant pace would have easily overpowered any positive feelings from Maranello. Moreover, Alesi pointed out that Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton will be able to bounce back only in the coming season, and the former asked the fans to maintain their faith and trust for now.
Even though a better grid position wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the race for Ferrari. It’s clear we’ll have to wait until next year [for Ferrari to bounce back], maintaining our faith and trust.
Jean Alesi added
Ferrari has to cover massive grounds of improvement against the rivals if they want to maintain their runner-up position in the constructors’ standings this year. The new regulations could go either way for the team ,and Lewis Hamilton is all for it. Now, time will tell about how the coming season pans out for the seven-time champion as he hopes to finish this year as soon as possible.
